The Church is the light of the world...

This statement has profound meaning and is pertinent for all of us today. The scripture states in Isaiah 2:2 "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it." Also in Matthew 5:14 "Ye are the light of the world. A city is set on a hill cannot be hid." Given these statements, we can see that God's church has a message for the whole world. No matter what else rises up, the Church is above it. (..."and shall be exalted above the hills.") Therefore, it is necessary for all of us to be attentive to what the Church has to say. We should be ready to take instructions from the Church and only from the Church.

Are you listening to what God is speaking in the Church?

The Church is the place where we go to receive instruction and information from the Lord. But how many really leave home conscious of this fact? We do not want to leave home with the intention of promoting our own ideas or ourselves. However, it is beneficial for us to come humble and willing to be educated concerning the righteousness of God.

The Lord has a message for the entire human family and is speaking His message through the Church. So if we come with a premeditated mind or with unbelief, we will miss the important news delivered from heaven. Remember, Revelation 2:29 "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches."

The word of God says what it says, and it does not change....

We are now in the 21st century and much has changed over the years. The world and the ways of mankind have become modernized in many facets of life.  Some think that the word of God also should be "updated" to fit the trend of the world today.  We should be careful to diverge from the original teachings of the word of God. Deuteronomy 6:1 "Now these are the commandments, statues, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:..." So no matter how this world evolve, we must remember that God's word will never change and therefore we should not stray away from His teachings.

Do that which is right no matter what ...

Not all of the time will you be praised for performing the right thing. Sometimes your toughest criticism comes when you are simply doing what is right.  However, we should not back down or alter our ways because we are not supported by men while doing the proper thing.  Suppose those before us gave in because they were persecuted for doing right? Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross because of all the right He had done. Where would we all be today if He had given in and evaded the cross? There is infinite good that comes out of His suffering.  Likewise with us today, if we abide faithful in that which is right, our labor will have a beneficial effect on those whose lives we touch.

Be found ready for a pleasant reward

We have many testimonies of various things that encourages people to press on during the tough times. These testimonies help persuade people that they might endure until the time of rewarding. However, we have an enemy in the world who preys on the lust that is in the flesh. The enemy try to wake us up and cause us to be concerned about what the flesh wants that we might be off base when rewarding time comes.

God is an unchangeable God and He is exact. God does not take it if it is almost, but it has to be exact. He is a precise God. Therefore, no matter how much good you have done, when He comes to reward you, even if you were perfect until the last second of His coming and you forfeit, then He will look at it as if you have no done anything. Matthew 24:48 "But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, my Lord delayeth His coming; And shall smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

So it is not wise for us to take this life that God has blessed us with and not become perfect and complete in Christ. Once complete in Christ, we must maintain this position and be found so doing upon His return to receive a peaceable reward.

One person in the Lord's kingdom can make a big difference.

Some of us may think of ourselves as insignificant or unimportant even though we have made it into the Church. Some may think that what they do or say would not have a significant impact on anything.

Many momentous things have occurred because one somebody made the sacrifice or spoke up and stood for truth. Think of Mordecai and how he would not bow down to Haman in respect to another law. Think of Esther and how because of her obedience to Mordecai she was able to help save the Jews. Read the book of Esther. Mary the mother of Jesus Christ, when the angel spoke to her submitted and allowed her personal life to be put on hold in order to bring the savior, Jesus Christ, into the world. Luke 1:27-38 The little slave girl who waited on Naaman's wife, spoke of her faith in the healing of God for his leprosy if only Naaman would contact the prophet.  2 Kings 5:1-3

These and others where humble and believed in the Lord according to His word. Today, we also should demonstrate such faith. Think of this: how would you know, a profound miracle may be waiting to happen through you.
